Dommage...

Président René Preval, (14 May 2006-

Manny, thank you so much for your input. I think I am being fair to our President and from the bottom of my heart I really wish he would succeed into alleviating the misery of the Haitian people. I would be among the first one to join into the reconstruction of our nation if I felt they were serious and sincere about business. This is the 21 st century and the world has changed. In the last 50 years alone, we have seen more changes & progress than the previous 500 years. There is this "dragging feet" into his administration that bothers me. Laws are on the book and should be fully enforced and for those who break the law, they should pay a hefty price. But if someone breaks the law and you look the other way, then others will do the same and expect the same. ( Think of the kidnapping issue - Do you really believe that the gov. is unable to deal with it?)

Of course, as you mentioned "HISTORY" will hold him responsible and accountable for what he could do and has not done. I still maintain that a leader must lead. Deputés et Sénateurs et les Ministres are elected to do a job. If they can't do it, then they should be removed from office. They are not there to collect / or cash their big check every month or take lavished trips abroad or may be purchase beautiful homes in Florida.(in the event things turn sour)

Manny, I know one thing and I am sure you would agree with me on that: there is a problem the way our nation is governed. To govern effectively is to predict - a good leader must be able to foresee the future. I will agree with you that he cannot undo the damages caused let's say for the past 50 years but he could try.

Mr. le President, nous sommes tous tristes et angoissés de voir le pays prendre une telle tournure. L' heure a sonné. Nous devons tous reconstruire notre patrimoine. Prenez charge!

    VIVE HAITI!

Président René Preval, (14 May 2006-

    Frankie !

Sans ne vouloir me faire son avocat, let's be fair to us & to him. I am not sure President Preval & cohorts can really make a difference in Haiti's misfortunes today. We'll hold him only responsible for what he can do and has not done.

As if President Obama could in days, repair the damages done in eight years. As if Preval can undo the damages caused during the past 200 years !

The challenges are for the entire population, in particular "Congressmen", "Senators" and other elected officials. Note: If the country is dirty, it is not Preval the responsible party but those loitering. The laws are here for all of us to observe & and of course, to others to enforce. Do not singularize the failures. All the components should be held and are responsible. We have all directly & indirectly contributed to this mayhem..

" Le désordre & l' echec sont collectifs.

Président René Preval, (14 May 2006-

I really would like to see President Rene Preval succeed in changing the direction, the path that Haiti has taken lately.I certainly would hope that he at least would try to alleviate the suffering of the Haitian people. Indeed, too many times we have heard so many heartbroken stories about the Haitian underclass. Too many times, we had tears in our eyes for instance when we see the cadavers of young children piled in a pick up trucks.

Sometimes, I really wonder how can someone who was elected to help the people, to work for them, can be so indifferent toward his people? I am also aware in every country that there is an Upper, Middle and Lower class. That is inevitable. Even in the so called socialist or communist countries, there is no such thing as a classless society. But, in the case of our country, I have never seen such a wide gap between the have and the have not. There are so so so many who have the capacity to help and /or to lead. If you lead, the people will follow. Also there are so many charlatans who promise that they would change the course of the nation and once in office do exactly the contrary. I refuse to think that our President would be in the latter group.

Mr. Preval, you barely have 2 years left in office. Show the Haitian people that you are up to the job you were elected to do. You were not elected to wear a beautiful suit and greet foreign dignitaries at the (lavished)National Palace or to travel abroad to visit foreign head of states(at a beautiful resort). You were not elected to have parties at the National Palace. You were not elected to cater to a few people...(I do not want to elaborate on that). You were elected to help our brothers and sisters who do not have the basic necessities of life: water, food, housing , being able to get an education. You were elected to built road, schools, hospitals, houses for the poor, reinstate tourism(very important), improve the quality of life of all Haitians.Show your fellow Haitians and the world that you can do it. Help the Haitian People. It's your people; it's our people; it's my people too.The Haitian people will be grateful to you for that. All Haitians want to be proud of their country. I guaranty you that if you are serious about business, the entire Haitian population and diaspora will roll their sleeves and begin the reconstruction of the nation. We love our country Mr. President and it hurts and it makes people cry to see it go down the drain. I count on you. It's never too late. Where there is a will, there is a way. Good luck Mr. President.

“You can’t lead the people, if you don’t love the people. You can’t save the people, if you don’t serve the people.”

I read this quote from a book by Dr. Cornell West and I think it was a great one. Personally I think a leader should not lead a country as if he or she is a the head of a corporation. A country is not a "Business". A leader needs to love, respect, appreciate his followers (not a small group) to truly be an effective leader. President Preval I hope that you would change your policies and do what is right to save our land. Haiti is in a bottomless pit. I know it's a very difficult task. Don't act as if you are a "manager of some sort of corporation" who is there for five years. Think of your legacy, think of how history will judge your achievements 50 years from now. You are about half way through term, you still have some time ahead of you.

Flag used on President Magloire's Yacht

Looking at this flag i think we should go back to this flag because all the killing we having for last 20 years or so. I know the red represents the blood of the mans and womens that fought for our independence i think it's time to retired the red if we retired the red it's doesn't mean we are forgetting those who give they life for or freedom which we have dine nothing whit it. I think this flag it's look peacefully to me..
