PRESS CONFERENCE: “MARY JANE”
[LCStudioS & Castle in the Sky Films] - (Miami, FL) July 7, 2010 - The silence that surrounds Child Sexual Abuse can be as harmful as the abuse itself. This knowledge inspired the writers and producers, in collaboration with Kristi House, to bring this issue to the forefront and create awareness through a powerful movie called Mary Jane.

Mary Jane – The Story
The movie depicts the life of a young girl named Mary Jane (played by Astrid Trouillot) who was molested by her uncle Frank (played by Darron Andrews). The story is narrated by Mary Jane as an adult (played by Patri Valmyr) who bravely takes the audience back in time to reveal her traumatizing ordeal which started at the young age of 9. Through this account, the audience will witness the sexual abuse forced on Mary Jane; get insight into the devastating, long-term psychological consequences of Child Sexual Abuse; and finally the audience will see how this ordeal torments the victim as well as the family unit.

Child Sexual Abuse Statistics
The statistics pertaining to Child Sexual Abuse in America are shocking – 1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys will be sexually abused before they reach the age of 18. Approximately 20% of the victims of sexual abuse are under age 8. Moreover, as many as 60% of the victims are abused by a member of their family and 90% of children who are sexually abused know their abusers. There are about 39 million survivors of sexual abuse in America. Last but not least, research reveals that the traumatic effect of child sexual abuse is so overwhelming that the sexually molested children who do not receive the proper psychological help are likely to fall into a vicious cycle of self-destructive behavior – including but not limited to – substance abuse, delinquency, prostitution and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.)

Our Children are our future. Now more than ever, we, as a society, have the responsibility to raise our voices against such evil. We believe that the urgent message of awareness “Mary Jane” brings to its audience can be the inspiration (just as it was for us writers and producers) to take a stand against the very taboo, but real, subject of Child Sexual Abuse.

You are cordially invited to a press conference on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at eight o’clock in the evening at Casa Champèt located at 220 N University Dr, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024. The conference will be preceded by a partial screening of the movie.

It is also important to note that a portion of this evening’s proceeds will be donated to Kristi House in order to help and remain active in the fight against Child Sexual Abuse.

The world Premiere of “Mary Jane” is scheduled for: July 17, 2010 at Olympia Theater of Gusman Center for the Performing Arts. Your attendance must be confirmed.
